I‘m a lawyer and ran a post office for many years. I'm delighted to be representing the interests of the communities in Central ward. Central Ward Councillor Farah Hussain
Central Ward Councillor Farah Hussain

Farah was elected to represent Central ward in May 2021.

Farah is an experienced businesswoman and professional. She is a qualified Commercial Property Solicitor and was the Principal Owner of a post office for several years.

As a councillor, Farah champions the interests of the diverse communities in Central ward and is fighting hard on the following issues:

  • PARKS AND GREEN SPACES
    • She is working to get investment in parks and green spaces – so important for health and wellbeing, especially in the inner city.
  • ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE
    • Her priority is to secure financial support to meet the net zero target.
  • HOUSING
    • Farah is concerned to represent the interests of council housing tenants, private renters and leaseholders, reflecting the high numbers of those renting within the ward. Farah says, “I’m only too aware of the challenges many tenants face. That’s why I support the Labour Mayor’s Landlord Registration Scheme, which ensures that landlords take proper responsibility for the condition of their properties and the rights of their tenants.”
    • She has been successful in securing CIL funding (Community Infrastructure Levy) for Dove Street improvements and has also successfully won funding for King Street E Building to be improved.
  • HARD WORKING AND AVAILABLE
    • Farah regularly attends residents’ groups and always responds promptly to case work
